- When are things truly urgent and when are we just trying to motivate others (or ourselves)?

Suggestions to inspire your own creative writing.

This also brings a common saying to mind: “We judge others by their actions, but we judge ourselves by our intentions.”

Judgment comes naturally.
How far back do you step before you judge something?

Things get scattered so easily.
What’s scattered about you?

I wish you a blessed year to come.
I’m trying something new for the new year and will post my poem for this prompt on Monday morning. I plan to make this the new norm which means two posts a week. Please send me a message or post a comment to let me know if this is better or worse for you.

A trigger (in this context) is something that causes you to react at a 10 when most would respond at a 1 to 4. It’s as sensitive as a third degree burn where even something intended to sooth, like a warm bath, causes intense pain. (holidays like Christmas can be a source of triggers for many people)
There are many communities that offer support for feelings of intense pain, churches offer these types of communities. Christian churches offer Christ to wear your pain as a crown of thorns and bear your guilt as a cross on his back. People come together every week to help you with your process of unburdening these things.
This is not intended to be a religious message but it is intended to be an invitation this Christmas. Please find the support you need to understand and sooth your triggers. I invite you to be at peace this Christmas.

I look forward to your links and comments in response.
As requested, here is my contribution:
I long to be noticed,
to be caught in the act
of being a hero
even, if only, for just being me.
My accomplishments are vast
when held up against the young
or the downtrodden.
They fade among my peers.
But I am superior
in my comforts and ease,
my refusal to push hard,
leaning only into softness.
I long to be noticed
but do not work at uniqueness.
I ease back into calm
gratitude for solace.

I look forward to your links and comments in response.
Thanks to the kind request, here is my contribution:
That grip in the pit of your guts
may let go in a warm embrace.
The distance that must be covered
is the journey we all must face.
Inner fears that block our path
must exist outside the present.
Pain from failed past actions
become triggers that you resent.
No relief will come from distance,
only the ease of feeling numb.
Revealing the cracks in your armor,
will allow an embrace to come.
Once held in a warm connection,
tears and joy can flow.
Moving forward with a true partner
allows the grip on your guts to let go.

Solitude is when you push the world away.
Isolation is when the world pushes you away.
A simple reversal of energy is all that separates the two.

Or, thinking about this year’s restrictions:

A one-liner to get you started:
Fear crawled up my spine to fog my brain.
