Disturbing – Not Disturbed – Your Weekly Poetry Prompt 3/18/2022

Our prompt this week is Disturbing – Not Disturbed. In other words, describe something disturbing but let your reader feel the feels. Avoid injecting your own words of emotion and write your poem dispassionately. See if letting your reader bring their emotions makes it more powerful for them.

For an example of this (one I quite like), read Emily Dickinson’s “I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,” where she describes having a mental breakdown through vivid imagery but without vivid emotion.

As always, please share your poem in the comments and I will be happy to read it and share my thoughts.
