Here is my poem for last week’s poetry prompt, Contrasts:
Peaceful Moment
What gets famous and remembered
is never the whole experience.
There are peaceful moments
and peaceful places,
even in times of war and distrust.
The sun rises gently each day,
even if the witnesses
have nothing gentle in mind.
It’s often hard to remember
the earth takes no account of you
to plot its course through space.
I watch the gentle sunrise,
I hear the waking birds sing
and I’m privileged
not to be near the misdeeds of others.
I hope you can too,
even if just for a peaceful moment,
find a peaceful place.

Beautiful and so full of evocative detail.

Thank you. Often, in my quest to leave things open to reader’s imagination, I’m accused of being too vague 🙂

I agree with Stephen and enjoyed this poem. It awakens a sense of gratitude. My favorite line is, “I’m privileged /
not to be near the misdeeds of others.”

Thank you. I did feel more in the position of a comfortable witness when writing this one.
